Project role: Creation of art/illustration, plan/layout book, and work with printer
Project timeline: Six months
This was my university's senior capstone project. Every senior was tasked with writing and designing a book on a topic of choice. I chose to base my book on acne and tips on clearing it. I had struggled with acne for years and I wanted to impart the lessons I learned to others in a fun engaging manner.
Planning & design strategy
It was pivotal for me to create a book that would engage and captivate the reader on a topic that most find somewhat boring. I played around with illustration, color, typography, grids and hierarchy to tell the story in a well organized, bold and visually engaging way. The book contains a lot of information along with a lot of visuals. I chose a light type face that would balance out the bolder illustrations throughout. It was also important consider white space in order to effectively create a clean and easy to follow along with book that wouldn't be too much on the eyes.
